Expanding our horizons

We have finally settled back into Melbourne and are appreciating opportunities to reconnect with old friends and colleagues and to expand some of the work we have been doing in Brisbane.

Last week, I had the privilege of speaking at the Overcoming Indigenous Family Violence conference, detailing the Queensland government’s 10-year plan for elimination of domestic and family violence and discussing our focus for empowering indigenous communities to tackle family violence. It was a great opportunity to meet Victorians working in the field and to pass on helpful contacts.

I am regularly meeting with a number of church representatives to support them with local and national domestic violence work, as well as maintaining active involvement with the Brisbane-based Joint Churches Domestic Violence Prevention Project.

I have started consultations with private practice clients at Malvern, just off the Toorak Rd exit from the Monash Freeway. I am available for consultations regarding general mental health conditions, educational and special needs, women’s issues, faith issues and domestic and family violence. In most cases, Medicare rebates are available with a GP referral.

Drawing on his experience in Queensland, Dean is now mentoring a number of leaders as well as coaching and advising churches on future directions.
